In 1999, during the Motsunabe boom, my predecessor, running a long-established Yakiniku restaurant in Kyobashi, Osaka, wanted to open a restaurant in Osaka where people could eat deliciously Motsunabe using only high-quality small intestines instead of cheap offal. At the time, Osaka's Motsunabe culture had not yet taken root, so the founder himself traveled to Hakata many times to research them.
After repeated trial and error to compete in Osaka, where people are very picky about taste, we completed a unique Motsunabe that can only be eaten at Matsukitei, not even in Hakata. Finally, on November 11, 1999, Matsui-Tei was born in Kyobashi, Osaka.
